Outernet Global and leading men’s lifestyle brand British GQ have announced a bold and exciting collaboration which promises to transform the publishing model forever.
The partnership will see GQ and Outernet creating compelling content to be broadcast in Outernet’s inaugural central-London space, when it opens to the public in early 2021. Visitors to the Tottenham Court Road location will be able to live and breathe the pages of GQ in ways never experienced before, thanks to Outernet’s cutting-edge technology and curation techniques, combined with GQ’s editorial creativity and influence.
Around 400,000 visitors per day will experience this unique content, broadcast on the largest LED screens in the world, bolstering Outernet’s diverse schedule of entertainment, arts, lifestyle and live music and creating significant brand and advertising opportunities.
The partnership also includes the opening of the GQ Studio @Outernet, for live interviews and debate, GQ branded product-testing areas and major event collaborations.
Bringing Music Back to Central London
GQ has a rich history of iconic cover stars, many of whom are musicians; the perfect counterpart for Outernet, whose Denmark Street location (London’s Tin Pan Alley) and newly built 2,000 capacity live venue, put it right at the heart of the UK music scene. Indeed, Denmark Street is often described as the birthplace of the British music industry; the place where stars like Elton John, Sex Pistols and David Bowie made the first steps in their stellar careers. Two smaller Outernet venues including the re-launched 12 Bar Club will complete a trio of venues able to stage everything from gigs to movie premieres to product launches. Retail, restaurant and office spaces and Chateau Denmark apartments complete the picture.
Dylan Jones OBE, Editor-In-Chief of GQ
“Magazine publishing has always evolved and diversified. At GQ we have been doing this for many years, through our extensive events business - including GQ Heroes and the GQ Men Of The Year Awards - and through our vast digital and social offerings. But this partnership really is a huge step-change. Nothing like Outernet has ever existed before and so to partner with them is exhilarating and with pretty much limitless opportunity.”
Philip O’Ferrall, CEO of Outernet Global
“Outernet London is the first launch of our global roll-out of immersive entertainment districts. The prime locations, scale and technology of Outernet’s network cannot be equalled, and our collaboration with the cultural force of British GQ adds depth and gravitas to our content offering. Publishing is in a period of huge change, and we’re proud to be working with GQ to look at new and innovative ways of sharing content with audiences.London has suffered during the Covid-19 lockdown, but we hope to be a positive beacon as people start to come back and enjoy the city.”
