Hidden Life is inspired by the beauty, diversity and crucial existence of Plankton, our ocean’s tiny drifting organisms
Making up 95% of ocean life and absorbing CO2 to produce 50% of the oxygen we breather, the impact of plankton on the planet is huge and yet most are barely seen with the naked eye. Hidden Life encourages us to look closer, revealing the beauty, detail and diversity of our world’s smallest creations and to learn more about the hidden forms that sustain our planet.
Created by visual artists Flora MacLeod and Simone Vulcano with sound designer Henry Sims, Hidden Life imagines drifting through fields of plankton-inspired organisms, passing creatures who have outgrown their planktonic stage and discovering a sparkling bioluminescent world.
Lose yourself in surreal 3D worlds, and a haunting soundscape where every noise, from glacial rumbles to ocean whispers, pulls you even deeper into the hidden world.

About the Creators:
Creative Direction, Concept & 3D Animation – Flora Macleod
Flora Macleod is a visual artist specialising in 3D animation and idea-driven emotional experiences. She takes regular inspiration from the natural world, creating visual & immersive works to captivate the viewer while evoking a sense of curiosity and awe. She has worked on award winning projects (both commercial and artistic), experienced by thousands of people.
Design & 3D Animation – Simone Vulcano
Simone Vulcano is a 3D motion designer with a focus on storytelling across spatial and experiential projects. He specialises in motion design, 3D art, and visualisations that blend narrative with emerging technologies and AI. Driven by a fascination with nature and science, his work explores the intersection of aesthetics, ideas and innovation.
Sound Design – Henry Sims
Henry Sims is a sound designer, musician and artist. He regularly works on feature films & TV series, while collaborating on spatial installations. Henry regularly collects field recordings and uses these sounds creatively in his film projects or sound art. He has won multiple awards and has shown work at Cannes Film Festival, Berlinale and Venice Film Festival.
